Adrenal Disorders
Adrenal Disorder Support for Cats
These all-natural, vet-formulated supplements help your cat by supporting the adrenal gland, which produces vital hormones your cat's body needs to control the balance of potassium, sodium, and blood sugar. This helps them to manage the effects of adrenal conditions such as hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing's syndrome) and hyperaldosteronism (Conn's syndrome).
How NHV Supplements Support Cats with Adrenal Conditions
Adrenal disorders commonly include feline hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing's syndrome) and hyperaldosteronism (Conn's syndrome). These all-natural supplements for cats’ adrenal glands are formulated using powerful natural ingredients like Supraglan™ — a gentle formulation of herbs including borage, which helps to restore the function of the adrenal cortex, and licorice, an adrenal stimulant and anti-inflammatory.
We also Milk Thistle with detoxifying, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties.
Together with the conventional medicine prescribed by your vet, you can help provide comprehensive support to your cat through adrenal conditions. These supplements are vet-formulated and enjoyed by pets worldwide.
About Adrenal Health and Disorders
A cat's adrenal glands are located just in front of the kidneys and have two parts — the cortex and the medulla.
The adrenal cortex is subdivided into three layers that each produces a different set of steroid hormones. The outer layer helps control the body's balance of sodium and potassium salts, the middle layer produces glucocorticoids used to metabolize nutrients and reduce inflammation, and the inner layer produces sex hormones such as estrogen and progesterone.
The adrenal medulla releases epinephrine (also called adrenaline) and norepinephrine, both of which slow digestion and increase heart output, blood pressure, and blood glucose. It plays an important role in responding to stress and low blood sugar (glucose).
Feline adrenal disorders include diseases such as hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing's syndrome) and hyperaldosteronism (Conn's syndrome).
Symptoms of feline hyperadrenocorticism include
- Unregulated diabetes (unique to cats)
- Severe skin atrophy (also unique to cats)
- Potbellied appearance
- Polydipsia
- Polyuria
- Susceptibility to infections
Symptoms of Conn’s syndrome in cats
- Hypokalemia
- Hypertension
- Muscle Weakness
Additional Support
Visit your vet immediately if you suspect your cat has an adrenal disorder. To support your pet's recovery, always ensure they have a constant supply of fresh water and eat only high-quality, nourishing food.
In combination with your vet’s recommended treatment, supporting your cat’s adrenal gland with supplements will give them the natural boost they need for an improved metabolism and a healthy liver.
