Devon Rex
Overview
Overview of Devon Rex
Often referred to as a cat in a monkey suit, the Devon Rex gets their name from where they were first discovered, Devonshire, England, and rex rabbits - who have similarly soft, fine coats. Also known as the ‘elf cat’, ‘poodle cat’ or even ‘alien cat’, a Devon Rex cat has a unique expression with their large low set "butterfly ears" and oval-shaped eyes. The most prominent feature of the Devon Rex is their coat, which is a series of soft curls all over their bodies. They lack protective guard hairs, so their low-shedding fur is quite delicate. Some cats will lose their fur over their lifetime, either naturally or from excessive grooming, and their whiskers can easily break off. The Devon Rex comes in almost any color including solid black, blue, chocolate, cinnamon, cream, fawn, lavender, red, and white. Patterns they come in include tortoiseshell, calico, tabby, bicolor, tricolor, mink, sepia, shaded, smoke, van and pointed.

They tip the scales around 8 lbs and do not require daily or weekly grooming due to their delicate fur.
