Pixie-bob

Overview

Overview of Pixie-Bob

They may look like a wild cat that just rolled into your yard, but there is nothing wild about a Pixie-Bob! Many of these kitties use their paws more like hands; almost 50% of Pixie Bobs are polydactyl, meaning they have extra toes. In general, cats have five toes on their front paws and four in the back, but these kitties can have up to seven toes per paw, so that's 28 toes in total! These extra toes go way back to the first member of the breed, who was a polydactyl cat. In 1985, a barn kitty with extra toes was crossed with a wild-looking spotted cat. The result was Pixie, a female cat with distinct wild-looking features, extra toes, and a short tail. Pixie Bobs come in both shorthaired and longhaired varieties, their coat color ranges from tawny to ruddy brown, and their tail tends to be 1-6 inches long. Please pay special attention to their extra toes, they may develop overgrown nails, so make sure to trim them every other week.

Personality

Personality

A Pixie-Bob is a mellow sort of cat, with a thick build and heavy boning. They can weigh anywhere between 8 - 25 lbs. Often described as a dog in a catsuit, these are the kinds of kitties that will want to walk with you on a leash and greet you when you come home! Pixie Bobs form powerful bonds with their owners and don't do well if left alone for too long. These sweet kitties love water, so watch out if you're taking a bath or shower; they may try to jump in with you! So if you are looking for a wild-looking cat companion who has more of a dog's personality, get yourself a Pixie-Bob!
