Ragdoll

Overview

If you ever come across a Ragdoll cat, they aren't fat kitties, just big! Some even tip the scales at 35 lbs! They came to be in the 1960s when an American breeder combined a feral white Angora kitty with other longhaired breeds along with Siamese style points to create the Ragdoll we have all come to know and love. These giant kitties tend to go limp in your arms when you pick them up, so that's how they came to be named Ragdoll cats. Famous for their fluffy coat that is soft like a bunny's fur, Ragdolls have a pointed coat, meaning that their face, legs, ears, and tail are darker than the rest of their body. These kitties are born all white, and their pointed coloration develops as they age. Their large almond-shaped eyes are always an intense shade of blue. What makes Ragdolls unique is their sweet temperament combined with huge stature. They can be up to three times larger than your typical kitty. Ragdolls are good pets for young children because their sturdy build means that they are not easily injured during playtime.

Personality

Personality

Often called puppy cats, Ragdolls thrive on human affection and will follow their family members from room to room. They have a very solid build and a beautiful pointed coat that comes in a range of colors. The most lovable thing about them is their calm, sweet demeanor. They tend not to be very vocal kitties and remain playful for most of their lives. Ragdolls get along well with children and other pets, so they make great first-time pets for any household. If you're on the lookout for a kitty that is a gentle giant and has puppy-like qualities, look no further than the Ragdoll!
