Description
Our pets love to explore the world - and sometimes they take a taste of it too. Giardiasis and coccidia in cats and dogs occur when they accidentally eat something contaminated by these parasites, like feces, water, or dirt.
If these single-celled parasites successfully pass through your fur kiddo’s tummy, they will latch onto their intestines and feed on them. While not all pets will show signs they have these parasites, pet parents should proactively address these parasites before they spread or worsen.
Benefits of Using the Coccidia and Giardiasis Support Kit
The Coccidia and Giardiasis Support kit was designed by a vet to complement your pet’s parasite care. It has four supplements with herbal blends to target parasites and support recovery.
Yucca: Yucca is naturally high in saponins, and studies have shown that saponins are effective at killing the active form of giardia in the intestine. The yucca plant is also a strong anti-inflammatory and may help address inflammation caused by parasites
Plantaeris: May help manage diarrhea caused by coccidia or giardiasis in pets thanks to gut-soothing ingredients like mullein, chamomile, and more. It may also help to reduce the spasms and irritations in the gut over time.
Inulin-PK: Was formulated specifically for supporting pets with parasites. It may also encourage the growth of healthy bacteria in cats and dogs whose guts have been affected by diarrhea and parasites
TumFlora: May help the inflammation response thanks to boswellia, fennel, and other pet-safe ingredients.
Your pet’s immune response to giardia will play a vital role in addressing both of these parasites, therefore nutrition and supplements can play a vital role in their recovery too.
The Symptoms of Coccidia and Giardiasis in Dogs and Cats
Giardiasis and coccidia in dogs and cats may not always show up in obvious ways, but there are signs that an infestation is taking over. These include chronic diarrhea, dehydration, weight loss, and lack of energy.
If you notice these signs, your beloved pet may have giardiasis or coccidia, but a vet can help you know for sure.

FAQ
What are the symptoms of coccidia in cats?
The symptoms of coccidia in cats include diarrhea (which may be mild to severe), weight loss, fatigue, anemia, dehydration, abdominal discomfort, blood or mucus in the stool.
What does dog poop look like with giardia?
When infected with giardia, your dog’s poop may be soft, greasy, and foul-smelling. It can be watery, and in some cases, it may also contain mucus or blood. If you observe persistent diarrhea, especially if it's frothy or oily, consult a veterinarian for a giardia test.
How do pets get coccidia?
Coccidia is transmitted through the ingestion of oocysts (the infective form of the parasite) in contaminated feces. Pets can get infected by drinking contaminated water, eating infected soil or food, or even through grooming when licking paws or fur that has come into contact with infected feces.
What kills coccidia in the house?
Coccidia is resistant to most household cleaning products. Disinfect contaminated surfaces with steam, boiling water, or a strong bleach solution (1:32 dilution). Use gloves when handling contaminated items or cleaning infected areas. Coccidia oocysts can survive freezing temperatures, so heat is the most effective way to kill them.
What is the Difference between Coccidia and Giardiasis?
Giardiasis and coccidiosis in dogs and cats may appear similar because both parasites can cause persistent diarrhea. However, coccidiosis is more likely to cause bloody or mucous-filled diarrhea, especially in severe cases. Coccidia can also invade the tissues of the intestines, while Giardia remains confined to the intestinal lumen. Coccidia infections tend to affect younger or immunocompromised pets more severely, while giardiasis can affect animals of any age.
