The Ruby-Red Dog Superfood
Beets have long been recognized as a health food for humans, but are beets good for dogs too? Yes! Beets offer vitamins, minerals, and other benefits!
Beets have a wide variety of naturally occurring vitamins and minerals, like a natural multivitamin. They contain vitamin C, potassium, folate, magnesium, manganese, calcium, and iron to name a few!
They’re a rich source of antioxidants and fiber. Antioxidants may help to scavenge free radicals in the body, and fiber promotes healthy gut flora.
Beets are also beneficial for cardiovascular health because they are a natural source of nitrate, which can help improve blood flow - making it an excellent treat for pets who exercise!
You Can’t Beat Rescued Beets
NHV is committed to sustainability because we believe in the good healing things that the earth provides. One way we’re keeping our Beet Chip Treats sustainable? Using rescued beets.
What are rescued sweet beets? The slightly misshapen or discolored beets that grocery stores won’t accept because of their imperfections. This creates food waste even though they are every bit as nutritious as their perfect-looking counterparts.
We saved these beets to create delicious and healthy treats, eliminating the carbon footprint and water waste that would have happened otherwise!

Our Dehydrated Beet Treats are made with love! A professional chef expertly crafts these chop-smacking treats in small batches for quality, nutrition, and taste. Your fur kiddo will want to pay their compliments to our in-house chef after taking a taste!

FAQ
Are beets good for dogs?
Feeding beets to dogs can offer several benefits, and they are even found in some commercial dog foods. They are a natural source of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Additionally, they are high in nitrates, which may improve circulation and cardiovascular health. While beets can be an excellent addition to your dog’s diet, no one food should be their only source, so feed your dog beets in moderation.
How much beet can I give my dog?
While beets can be healthy natural dog treats, they do contain sugar and therefore should be given in limited quantities. Feed your pet only 1 - 3 pieces of beets per day, and never feed them more than 10% of their daily caloric intake.
Can dogs pee red after eating beets?
Your pet’s urine may turn pink or red after consuming beets. This is a natural phenomenon called beeturia caused by the excretion of betalain pigments that are found in beets. Note that the feces may turn pinkish as well.
Will beets help my dog poop?
Beets are naturally high in fiber and will promote the growth of beneficial microbiota in the gut. Therefore, beets may improve your dog’s digestion and regulate related issues, like constipation or diarrhea.
