Danie Dinmont Terrier
Overview
If you want a breed that has been nicknamed the gentleman of the terrier world, check out the Dandie Dinmont Terrier! Named after a funny character from a novel by Sir Walter Scott, these rare pups are the only AKC breed to be named after a fictional character. Dandie Dinmont Terrier puppies have a very iconic look with their large head covered with silky white hair, long feathery hanging ears, and big round eyes. What they lack in stature, these bright-eyed, long-back pups more than makeup for in quiet confidence and personality. Like all terriers, Dandie Dinmont Terriers have a strong high prey drive and are wired to chase down vermin and hunt! These dignified terriers became a favorite companion of 19th-century royals such as French King Louis Philippe, who always kept several pampered Dandies as part of his royal entourage. Established in 1875, England's Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club, still operates today as one of the world's oldest breed clubs.
