Japanese Chin

Overview

The Japanese Chin is one of the many flat-faced breeds that originated in the Chinese imperial court 1,500 years ago. In Japan, there are “Inu” dogs and there are “Chin” dogs. To the Japanese, the Chin are royalty, descending from lapdogs of the Chinese aristocracy. They are an indoor companion with a happy and cheerful personality. They are also often described as a “feline” dog because they love to climb and perch as high as they possibly can. Chins are not independent creatures though, they love people and require human companionship in order to be happy dogs.
