Kuvasz
Overview
The Kuvasz is a livestock guardian breed from Hungary. They are originally from Tibet, but they were developed into the current breed in Hungary. The name of the breed comes from the Turkish word ‘kawasz’ that translates into armed guard of the nobility. They make an excellent watchdog and guardian. They are gentle with people, children, and other pets in the family, but they are not the cuddly and affectionate kind of dog. Strangers will not get a warm welcome, and they can be aggressive toward dogs they don’t know. Protecting the family is their job and they take it seriously. Kuvasz are smart, independent and strong willed dogs.
