Description
Chronic kidney failure or chronic renal failure in cats and dogs are major causes of illness and death in senior pets. Chronic kidney or renal failure can be caused by a diet heavy in processed food, as well as untreated dental infections which cause oral bacteria to travel throughout the body and cause liver, heart, or kidney infections.
A functioning urinary system, which includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra is vital to your cat or dog’s well-being since it helps to:
- Rid the body of waste
- Maintain the balance of water and electrolytes
- Produce hormones that help maintain blood pressure
- Help the body process vitamin D
The combination of Tripsy and Milk Thistle will help aid your dog or cat with chronic renal failure by helping to inhibit further bladder infections, flushing kidney stones, and helping alleviate symptoms of uncomfortable urination. As toxins build up in the body, Milk Thistle will aid in strengthening the liver, which will aid with removing toxins from the body.
See your vet if you observe the following symptoms of chronic renal failure in your cat or dog:
- A decrease/increase in urination and thirst
- Decreased appetite
- Foul breath
- Lethargy
With proper support, which includes diet, a pet with CRF can live a relatively comfortable life for years.

Shake well before use. The easiest method is to use the dropper provided and place the drops into your pet’s food or favorite treat. You can also use the dropper and squirt directly into the pet’s mouth.
Some pets can be finicky. If this occurs, consider hiding the drops in foods most pets love, such as fish, chicken, yogurt, or a favorite treat. If your pet only eats dry food, then soak a few kibbles at feeding time.

FAQ
My vet said this disease never goes away. Is that true?
Unfortunately, there is no cure for kidney disease and chronic renal failure in cats and dogs. With proper management, some kidney function can be regained, but chronic kidney disease is generally progressive. It's important to support your pet well to slow the progression as much as possible.
I've heard that using a diuretic is bad for dogs and cats with chronic renal failure. What are your thoughts?
One of the most common treatments in veterinary hospitals for pets suffering from chronic renal failure is diuresis. Diuresis involves giving IV fluids to stimulate increased urine output and flushing the build-up of toxins from the pet’s body. In renal failure, pets feel unwell due to urea and other waste products building up in the system. (These are seen on your kitty’s bloodwork as BUN-blood urea nitrogen and CREA – Creatinine.) Diuresis helps these toxins to be flushed from the body. The diuretic properties of Tripsy are very gentle and stimulate the kidneys to function not just more, but more effectively. So, they are not just doing more work but doing more work well.
My dog was just diagnosed with CRF. What else can I do to help?
Aside from the supplements in this kit, you can provide support for your dog by providing ample fresh water. Kidney disease can often cause dehydration which is tough on the kidneys. Making sure your pup gets enough water is extremely important. If your dog doesn't drink much on their own, add water to their food.
Should I cut out all protein? I've heard that it's bad for dogs and cats with chronic renal failure?
Chronic renal failure requires a fine balance of nutrients. It is not healthy to cut out all protein for any pets, as it is essential for energy and muscle maintenance. Our veterinarian, Dr. Amanda, can formulate a home-cooked custom meal plan for your dog or cat with chronic renal failure.
